I’m Melanie, the founder of Journey Forward Counselling, a Registered Social Worker (#4616), Certified Divorce Coach, and Bachelor of Social Work graduate from the University of Regina.
Having personally navigated the emotional exhaustion of a high-conflict divorce and a lengthy custody process, I understand how overwhelming separation and co-parenting challenges can be. These experiences allow me to connect with clients in a meaningful way while providing professional guidance grounded in both training and lived experience.
Whether you are dealing with ongoing conflict, navigating legal processes, or trying to create stability for your children, I provide empathetic support and practical strategies to help you move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
My goal is to help individuals and families reduce conflict, support children during family transitions, and build healthier co-parenting relationships.
If you are ready to take the next step, I would be honoured to support you.
Warmly,
Melanie

I have experienced both high-conflict and amicable divorce, and the difference between the two is profound. In one situation, my eldest child was caught in a painful loyalty bind, feeling she had to choose between her parents. In another, my youngest has been able to love both parents freely without feeling caught in the middle.
As a parent, I understand the isolation, confusion, and frustration that can come with high-conflict co-parenting and legal processes. These experiences have shaped both who I am as a parent and how I approach my work. They are a large part of what drives my commitment to helping families reduce conflict, protect children from being placed in the middle, and move toward healthier co-parenting relationships.
My mission is to provide empathetic support and practical guidance for individuals navigating separation, divorce, and co-parenting challenges. Through my own experience with high-conflict divorce and custody proceedings, I understand how overwhelming and isolating these situations can feel. Those experiences shaped my commitment to helping others find clarity, reduce conflict, and move forward in healthier ways. By combining personal insight with professional training, I support clients in making thoughtful decisions, protecting their children from being placed in the middle, and exploring solutions that reduce unnecessary conflict and stress.
My goal is to help you move forward with greater confidence, stability, and hope for the future.

Contact me today to take the first step toward a healthier future. Together, we can work to reduce conflict, support your children, and create a more stable path through separation and co-parenting challenges.
